Each of us has a cause close to our heart, and together we wanted to put some energy behind them.

For Adam, it goes back to when he was 11 and got hit by a cement truck in Omaha. The accident crushed all the bones in both of his legs, and he endured a coma, over 25 surgeries, and years of recovery, much of which was spent at a children’s hospital. Those years shaped him, and he has never forgotten what it felt like to be a kid stuck in that situation. Because of his own childhood experiences as a patient who overcame incredible odds, he now gives back through Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals: visiting kids, cracking jokes, handing out capes and LEGO sets, and reconnecting with the doctors and nurses who once helped him. For Adam, it is about uplifting patients and comforting them with the same hope and encouragement that carried him through.

For Blake, it’s turtles. (Yes, turtles.) His brother had them growing up, and the obsession stuck. These days it has turned into real support for protecting endangered species and habitats. But he still donates regularly to the Turtle Conservatory in Ojai, because if turtles are thriving, we’re doing something right! By saving the turtles, you’ll help save the planet.

So that’s what this fundraiser is about: kids in hospitals and saving turtles. Two totally different vibes, but that’s kind of the point.
