Mission

The Boston Home seeks to make a compelling difference in the lives of adults with advanced progressive neurological diseases, including multiple sclerosis, through exceptional clinical care, compassion and innovative programs. The Boston Home seeks to continuously expand its role as industry leader and catalyst for change by conducting research and training, exporting our competencies to others in the health care community.

About

The Boston Home provides a unique continuum of care for adults with advanced multiple sclerosis and other neurological disorders. We do this in four primary areas: (1) Our on-site residential skilled nursing facility, by far the largest of our programs, supports the independence of 96 disabled adults in a long-term care setting by providing outstanding clinical care as well as utilizing the latest advances in assistive technology, wheelchair modifications, rehabilitation services, wheelchair seating clinic, and by offering a wide range of life enhancing programs and events. (2) We support adults, with similar needs who are living in the community, by giving them access to the resources described above and also to B.Fit! - our social day program that provides participants with a safe and socially enriching environment where they help shape a robust schedule of activities designed to achieve and maintain a high level of personal independence. (3) We just completed the development of Harmon Apartments, LLC, a 36 unit, affordable, completely accessible, supportive independent apartment building designed for those with mobility impairments and a desire for supportive services. (4) And finally, we collaborate and share best clinical practices with the broad world of academia, research and advocacy on issues related to the needs and care of those with advanced multiple sclerosis through the Boston Home Institute.
