National Yiddish Book Center Inc

The Yiddish Book Center works to tell the whole Jewish story by rescuing, translating, and disseminating Yiddish books and presenting innovative educational programs that broaden understanding of modern Jewish identity. The organization works to advance knowledge of the content and literary and cultural progeny of the books we've saved. Beyond having saved more than one million Yiddish books since its founding in 1980, the Yiddish Book Center advances knowledge of the content and literary and cultural progeny of the books its saved through educational programs, translation initiatives, and the Wexler Oral History Project among others.

Lowell Makes

Lowell Makes is a collection of open workshops and laboratories where members and students can collaborate to learn, share, and hone crafts of all kinds. We are focused on providing an inclusive space for education, entrepreneurship, and engagement with the community of Lowell, Massachusetts, and beyond. Our space is equipped with a wide variety of tools, machines, materials, computers and other resources where individuals can gain and practice modern skills with state‐of‐the‐art technology, access to resources they could not otherwise, and a community of creative minded people who make all kinds of things. Lowell Makes is used for brainstorming, visioning, problem solving, design, prototyping, custom fabrication and repair. The makerspace is also used for classes and workshops for both members and visitors in a wide variety of subjects. Classes are led both by members and invited visitors who have knowledge of skills, trades and technologies. Anything creative can happen here. “Art is the Handmaid of Human Good” is both the City of Lowell’s motto, and a reminder of Lowell’s rich industrial and artistic history as our inspiration.

DER’s mission is to champion the creation, circulation, and preservation of documentary film and media that amplifies underrepresented voices, and inspires understanding about people, cultures, and identities of the world. We address the need for tolerance and understanding of all people. This need is universal and more evident in today’s global political, social and cultural climate than ever before. Our distribution and production programs are informed by the conviction that documentary and ethnographic films can broaden and alter preconceptions of marginalized and underrepresented peoples.
