About this organization
Mission
Success in Style (SIS) is a non-profit organization that assists disadvantaged individuals from diverse backgrounds, who are unemployed or under-employed, in finding meaningful work by providing an interview appropriate, professional wardrobe. SIS is also known for its uplifting resale boutiques (Charity's Closet, Phil's Closet, and Cherie Amour), which raise funds for its programs. Dedicated volunteers for SIS assist with the following: administration, client consultation, donation processing, outreach, volunteer recruiting, volunteer scheduling, retail sales, and fundraising/friend-raising events.
About
The client consultation is the focus of the mission and every other activity ultimately works to make that possible. At every appointment, clients receive a professional consultation, fitting them with outfits that make them feel confident and reflect a positive, professional image. They in turn carry this confidence into the interview process. SIS's clients may have spent considerable time developing specific job skills, refining their resume and practicing interview skills, but lack the confidence to approach the very daunting interview process. The results of the SIS consultations are always inspiring for the client as well as the volunteers. SIS helps provide a vital final piece of the puzzle for someone in a career transition. SIS's referring partners serve a population ranging from homeless transitional families to mid-career professionals who are unexpectedly laid off and experiencing long-term unemployment. SIS serves jobseekers of all ages from youth to senior citizens. In addition to economically challenged clients, the referring partners serve individuals dealing with developmental disabilities, mental health concerns, re-entry, and substance abuse recovery.
