The Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage introduces visitors to the beauty and diversity of that heritage in the context of the American experience. It promotes an understanding of Jewish history, religion and culture and builds bridges of appreciation, tolerance and understanding with those of other religions, races, cultures and ethnic backgrounds, serving as an educational resource for Northeast Ohio's Jewish and general communities.

Special exhibitions: The museum has presented 33 special exhibitions since its inception, treating each as an opportunity to connect historical themes with current events. Special exhibitions have covered topics varying from violins that survived the Holocaust, comic superheroes, and photographers of the civil rights movement. In 2019, the museum designed and developed a special exhibition, Israel: Then and Now. This exhibition as well as Operation Finale: The Capture & Trial of Adolf Eichmann will be on tour in 2020.
