About this organization
Mission
Animal Rescue Rhode Island (ARRI) is committed to the humane welfare and well-being of animals in need. ARRI takes in abandoned, abused, and surrendered animals without geographic limitation. We nurture them to be adopted as pets in loving homes. ARRI fosters animals by following a philosophy where no animal is ever euthanized because of time, space, breed, or humanely treatable condition. We provide the animals in our care an environment which is safe, healthy and loving.
About
Shelter and humane education: Animal Rescue Rhode Island (ARRI) is a no-kill animal shelter that can accommodate up to 44 cats and small animals and 20 dogs at any one time. ARRI shelters animals surrendered by their owners, as well as rescue animals from other shelters in other states. In 2018, ARRI took in 478 animals and adopted out 475. ARRI believes that every animal that comes into the shelter deserves a second chance at a loving home. Animals are never euthanized due to space, time, breed or treatable behavioral or other medical conditions. ARRI's community outreach program includes a pet food pantry to help less fortunate citizens feed and keep their pets in their homes. The pantry is located at the shelter and is supplied by pet food donations from community members. In addition, ARRI offers sessions on humane education to schools, youth groups and libraries. ARRI also offers a workshop for adults with newborns called 'Baby Ready Pets'. ARRI is also a primary provider of volunteer opportunities in South County for both court-ordered community service and citizens who are passionate about animal welfare. In 2018, over 200 volunteers donated their time to support the mission.
