The organization solicits donations of clothing and other household items from the general public and then sells the donated items to an unrelated third party. The management and board of directors believe that the household recycling activity is a program service of the organization and that the expenses associated with the program are reported as program service expense. The excess revenue from the operation of the recycling program is then used to fund grants to charitable organizations making lasting, positive differences in the lives of children at risk, their families, and their communities.
