Mission

Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is a research and policy nonprofit that discovers and promotes effective solutions to global poverty problems. IPA brings together researchers and decision-makers to design, rigorously evaluate, and refine these solutions and their applications, ensuring that the evidence created is used to improve the lives of the world's poor. Since our founding in 2002, IPA has worked with over 600 leading academics to conduct over 830 evaluations in 52 countries. This research has informed hundreds of successful programs that now impact millions of individuals worldwide.

About

Peace & Recovery: The work of Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) in the sector of peace and recovery aims to build rigorous evidence on effective ways to build peace and stability in conflict and crisis-affected contexts. In 2018, IPA's major work and accomplishments in the peace and recovery sector focused broadly on developing and testing ways to improve security in Mexico City. On this major project, IPA and affiliated researchers from Yale are working in partnership with the Ministry of Public Security of Mexico City and the National Security Commission to test how to make police organizations in Mexico City more effective, resilient, and trusted. The project includes 1) training Mexico City police and middle managers in procedural justice, police legitimacy, and leadership and rigorously evaluate its impact and 2) evaluating and improving the Compare Statistics (CompStat) system in Mexico City.
