Next Wave Festival 2017. In 2017, Bam's 35th annual Next Wave Festival continued to redefine the performing arts through a lineup of 31 productions that featured both emerging and established artists from 11 countries, including: Cambodia, Canada, Colombia, France, Germany, Israel, the Netherlands, Senegal, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The festival reached a total audience of 89,622. Highlights included: Cafe Muller/The Rite of Spring, a double bill from the acclaimed Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch (Sept. 14-24, 2017); director Thomas Ostermeier's reinvention of the Shakespeare classic Richard III (Oct. 11-14, 2017); and the return of Geoff Sobelle with his newest physical theater piece, Home (Dec. 6-10, 2017).
