Since its inception in 1988, the mission of the Long Island Housing Partnership, Inc. (LIHP) has been to provide affordable housing opportunities to those who, through the ordinary, unaided operation of the marketplace, would be unable to secure, or remain in, a decent and safe home.

Long Island Housing Partnership, Inc. has mortgage counseling contracts to counsel first time homebuyers in obtaining mortgages, as well as, families and individuals in default on their mortgages and facing foreclosure on their homes. There were 644 clients counseled for mortgages in 2014, of which 147 resulted in actual mortgage commitments. There were an additional 342 clients counseled for default/foreclosure prevention in 2014.
