Union Settlement is an on-the-ground resource for East Harlem residents of all ages and a strong advocate for the needs of underserved communities. Since opening our doors in 1895, Union Settlement has brought education, wellness, and community-building programs to the people of East Harlem—a neighborhood rich in culture and diversity that also is one of the lowest-income communities in New York City. By helping our neighbors realize their goals, we build the vitality and success of East Harlem.

Early childhood education: high-quality, full-day educational programs to over 700 infants, toddlers and preschoolers, ages eight weeks to five years. Our seven early childhood centers support the cognitive, social, creative and physical development, and our family child care network prepares community members to establish and run their own home-based child care businesses in an educationally stimulating home-based setting.
