Placemaking: Placemaking is a multi-faceted approach to the planning, design and management of public spaces. It involves looking at, listening to and asking questions of the people who live, work and play in a particular space to determine their needs and aspirations. The placemaking program involves meeting with local officials and community members as well as a walking tour of the area to learn about the successes and challenges faced. Each spring the Citizens Foundation hosts a placemaking conference to bring together people from all around the Hudson Valley to learn more about creating quality 'places'. Speakers and panelists are experts in their respective fields and provide knowledge to those wanting to improve their own communities. In 2018, our placemaking tours and conference were attended by about 150 people.
