Mission
Our mission is to preserve undeveloped open space in North Salem and its surrounding areas to protect waterways, scenic views and sensitive wildlife habitats.[1]
About
Preservation, Maintenance and Awareness of Open Land:- Ownership of 27 parcels of land, totaling roughly 847 acres, and holding conservation easements over another 469 acres. These 1316 acres will remain preserved and undeveloped forever and most of this land is available to the public for walking, riding, cross-country skiing and other forms of passive recreation.- Education of land stewards through a hands-on trail maintenance workshop and development of a comprehensive Stewardship Manual to aid in the monitoring activities on NSOLF preserves.- Introduction of a guided Sunday morning hiking series on many of the preserves with land stewards and naturalists.- Partnership with the North Salem High School on the Community Garden venture.
