MEDICAL RESEARCH- SCMCI PERFORMS RESEARCH IN ALL ITS DEPARTMENTS AND SOME OF THE RESEARCH AREAS FUNDED BY MDI INCLUDE: DIABETES and STEM CELL THERAPY AS A SUBSTITUTE FOR CHEMOTHERAPY TREATMENT OF SPECIFIC CHILDHOOD CANCERS. MDI ALSO FUNDS MULTIPLE PROGRAMS, SUCH AS ANXIETY DISORDERS CLINIC, CHILD DEVELOPMENT, CRISIS INTERVENTION, ENDOCRINOLOGY/DIABETES, FOREIGN LANGUAGE SOCIAL WORKERS, HEMATOLOGY/ONCOLOGY, NURSE TRAINING, PAIN MANAGEMENT, PEDIATRIC CARDIAC CATHETERIZATION UNIT, AND THE ANXIETY TRAUMA AND STRESS CENTER (PSYCHIATRY).
