About

See Schedule O: The Graduate Center received a three-year $2.25 million renewal grant from the Leon Levy Foundation to further the work of the Leon Levy Center for Biography. Established in 2007, the Leon Levy Center for Biography serves as a hub for writers, scholars, students, teachers, and readers of biography. The center builds connections between independent and university-affiliated biographers across disciplines and cultivates important discussions about the art and craft of biography historically and in our time. The Levy Center sponsors a variety of events and public programs, and offers four fellowships annually to fund the research and writing of outstanding biographies and two fellowships to CUNY dissertation students writing biography. The Graduate Center launched a new M.A. degree in biography and memoir, a first-in-the-nation program for students who wish to study biography and memoir, or to become biographers and memoirists themselves. The Graduate Center's newest master's program is an interdisciplinary collaboration between two doctoral programs, English and History, and the renowned Leon Levy Center for Biography.
