The organizations mission is promote and foster literacy and English language proficiency through teaching and assistance to persons who function at the lowest levels of reading, writing and speaking English and to aid groups or organizations desiring to increase literacy.
About
Literacy Solutions NY, Inc. operates literacy and English teaching and tutoring programs in Westchester and Rockland counties in New York State. In fiscal 2019, the organization served over 700 national reporting system-eligible adult students. The average student received 45 hours of instruction. The organization met or exceeded all targets for student progress outcomes required by the NYS Education Department. In addition, the organization manages the Haverstraw Literacy Zone which provides a range of case management services to students and non-students alike, and the Office for New Americans Opportunity Center, which offers citizenship preparation instruction and legal assistance with the process of naturalization to legal permanent residents and their families in Westchester and Rockland counties.
