The Burke Neurological Institute (BNI) conducts research involving protection from and repair of Neurological diseases, such as Stroke, Traumatic Brain injury, Spinal Cord Injury, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. In pursuing this goal, the Burke Neurological Institute seeks to harness the best in contemporary neuroscience to advance interventions to improve brain recovery and recovery of function. This endeavor is actively advanced by frequent and lively interchange between scientists working on novel pharmacological, biological and robotic approaches to repair the damaged brain. Faculty at the Burke Neurological Institute are experts in the rehabilitation of neurological diseases and are committed to help translate these approaches to the bedside. A number of important clinical trials have been completed and are ongoing. However, we are far from reaching our clinical goals and potential, the lack of brain repair and consequent disability remains a large almost silent epidemic.
