Art Omi is a not-for-profit arts organization with residency programs for international artists, writers, translators, musicians, architects and dancers. Art Omi believes that exposure to internationally diverse creative voices fosters tolerance and respect, raises awareness, inspires innovation, and ignites change. By forming community with creative expression as its common denominator, Omi creates a sanctuary for the artistic community and the public to affirm the transformative quality of art.
About
International Artists Residency Program - Three week residency program for visual artists in upstate NY. Organization provides artists with a studio, living quarters and meals at no cost to the artists. During the program there are workshops with a critic-in-residence, visits by gallerists, critics, curators and other artists. Evenings offer lectures, slide presentations and panel discussions. At the end of the program, there is an Open Day where the general public is invited to visit. Through the residency program, awards are presented every two years to under-recognized artists of outstanding merit.
