Mission

Her Justice stands with women living in poverty in New York City by recruiting and mentoring volunteer lawyers to provide free legal help to address individual and systemic legal barriers.

About

Since 1993, Her Justice has ensured that women receive critical legal services that help them achieve safety, self-sufficiency, and stability. We offer a full range of free legal services information, advice, drafting court documents, and full representation in family, divorce, and immigration matters to address the vital needs of New York City women and children, especially survivors of intimate partner violence and immigrants isolated by language and culture. What makes Her Justice unique is our 'pro bono first' model. We specialize in offering pro bono assistance by connecting volunteer lawyers from over 80 premier firms with women living in poverty who desperately need a lawyer. Her Justice trains and mentors the volunteer attorneys to provide essential legal assistance to impoverished women and children living in New York City. Her Justice identifies women with cases that would result in serious injustice without legal help. Her Justice matches the best legal services to each client and brings the power of the legal profession to those who need it most, empowering low-income women and children to avoid homelessness and overcome poverty and abuse. Last year, Her Justice provided essential legal assistance to almost 8,000 women and children. Every dollar donated to Her Justice delivers $6 worth of legal services.
