Our mission at Casa of Oklahoma County is to provide trained volunteers to be champions for the individualized best interests of children in foster care.

About

In FY2019, Casa of Oklahoma County (Casa of OKCO) provided advocacy services to 670 children in Oklahoma County. Of those children, 45% were under the age of 5 with 85.3% of these children under the age of 12. Casa of OKCO was assigned to work with children who overwhelmingly entered the foster care system due to domestic violence and substance abuse issues with their biological parents. Casa volunteers assisted 38% of these children in finding safe, permanent homes during 2019, a 6% increase over FY2018 outcomes. Casa of OKCO also experienced a 90% increase in new volunteers or 118 new volunteers available for case appointment in FY2019. Casa of OKCO continued to expand services to area foster youth in FY2019 with 31% of foster youth in Oklahoma County receiving a Casa advocate. Casa of OKCO's 261 volunteers reported: - logging 171,236 miles driving to work their cases; - donating 12,765 hours towards volunteer advocacy; - recording 7,634 contacts with parties pertinent to the case and the child; - making 4,962 unduplicated best interest recommendations.
