Early Childhood: Grand St. Settlement served 307 children (ages birth to five) and their families in five early childhood education centers in the Lower East Side of Manhattan and Bushwick, Brooklyn. GSS also partners with private childcare providers at multiple locations in Brooklyn to help them improve the quality of their programs to meet Head Start standards. In FY19, 78 families in the early childhood programs achieved their goals of completing a degree program, job training program, receiving legal assistance, or other key accomplishments. GSS linked 100 eligible children to comprehensive special needs services and therapies such as occupational, physical, and speech therapy. Families received all special needs services for free, and the total value of those services was approximately $10,000 per child.
