Mission
FAI-Groceries on Wheels offers food, friendship and hope to improve health and wellness to low income and disabled seniors in Guilford County. It is volunteer-driven.
About
Meals on Wheels is Food Assistance Inc.'s primary program. Volunteers from the community take referrals from social agencies, congregations, United Way 211, in-care home agencies and other nonprofits in Guilford County to provide food assistance to 500+ people. Seniors are interviewed in their homes to determine needs and situation. Appropriate referrals are given if needed, referring to other agencies and organizations. Nutritional and educational information is provided with food. Volunteers spend time with recipients during each monthly delivery and provide many acts of random kindness. During 2018, 860 volunteers delivered 6,050+ bags of food, making 5,500 home deliveries and working 4,587 volunteer hours.
