Mission
Tiba works to build community healthcare in rural Kenya by providing medical treatment, training facilities and equipment, and to empower local communities to take control over their own health and well-being.
About
During 2018, Tiba supported three outpatient clinics in Ugenya District, Kenya, serving approximately 35,000 people with a wide range of clinical problems including HIV, malaria, parasites, diabetes, hypertension and heart disease. Tiba also funded the operations of the first module of the Matibabu Women & Children's Hospital in Ugenya. The hospital provides a variety of services including inpatient treatment of children, labor and delivery, and transfusions. In addition, Tiba operates a volunteer program for U.S. medical professionals to travel to Kenya, where they perform surgery, provide other medical care, work on AIDS prevention and treatment, and most importantly teach local medical personnel. Tiba also supports other health-related projects, including providing enhanced health insurance to 83 secondary school girls who are especially at risk; and a wheelchair/mobility equipment project. Both of these projects have been very successful.
