Concert Performances: Del Sol's concert performances in 2018 included the following significant activities: 1) performance of the world premiere of Frederick Rzewski's 2018 "Words," at Columbia University's Miller Theatre in New York City on April 19, 2018, presented on its "Composer Portraits Series" with Rzewski in attendance, in honor of his 80th birthday; 2) performance at the "April in Santa Cruz Contemporary Music Festival" presented by the University of California, Santa Cruz, CA, including premiering three works; 2) a concert in Madison, WI in May honoring composer Ben Johnston on the occasion of his induction into the American Academy of Arts and Letters; 3) performance of two chamber music concerts in NM in July for Santa Fe Opera, in connection with its production of the John Adams opera, "Doctor Atomic"; 4) two performances with "DJ Spooky" (aka Paul D. Miller) of his "Arctic Rhythms" for string quartet, video and electronics, presented in San Francisco by Yerba Buena Center for the Arts on its "Transform Festival" in May; 5) a new self-presented series of three intimate chamber music concerts, curated by Del Sol and featuring a diverse selection of talented performers in addition to the Quartet, which was held at Del Sol's home venue in San Francisco. 6) additional Del Sol performances at other Bay Area and northern CA venues, including Berkeley, Mill Valley, Piedmont, Philo, and Redding, presented by other organizations.
