Illinois Legal Aid Online's vision is a just society where all people live safe, secure and equal lives. Our purpose is to simplify the law so people can seek justice. Illinois Legal Aid Online (ILAO) increases access to justice by breaking down barriers of language, income, education, geography, and time, for families and individuals with civil legal problems in Illinois, who cannot find or afford lawyers. We are the only legal aid program in the state who provides 24/7 access to self-empowerment tools in three languages. a.Illinois Legal Aid Online (ILAO) provides accurate, reliable, and easy-to-use legal empowerment tools for English and Spanish speakers in Illinois. Year over year, website visitors have increased over 40%, demonstrating the growing demand for 24/7 online legal help. ILAO serves anyone with an Illinois civil legal problem who cannot afford or find an attorney by helping people in need to understand their options and take action towards a resolution. We do this by offering free legal tools via illinoislegalaid.org for more than 600 legal issues, including divorce, disability, deportation, workers rights, and how to go to court. We supplement our online presence with personal services such as real-time navigation help, making connections to local legal self-help centers, and collaborative partnerships with community organizations, including triage, intake and referrals to legal aid and other services.
