About this organization
Mission
Positively affecting the lives of pediatric cancer patients and their families through the writing, recording and sharing of their original songs.
About
Purple Songs Can Fly is a unique project that provides a musical outlet for the many children being treated for cancer and blood disorders at Texas Children's Cancer & Hematology Centers and their siblings. In this program, the children work with Anita Kruse and other professional composers to write and record their own songs. Using the latest technology in an in-hospital recording studio, composers work with the children individually or in small groups to compose, record, and burn songs to disc within short sessions. Purple Songs Can Fly also uses portable recording studios which enable the composers to also work with in-patient children at their bedsides to write and record their own songs. In 2018, 411 original songs were written; a total of 2,285 songs have been written by Purple Songs Can Fly and the children through 12/31/18.
