Mission
Old Skool Cafe is a faith-based, violence prevention program, providing job training, employment, and a second chance at life for at-risk, formerly incarcerated, and foster care youth ages 16-22 by way of a 1920’s speakeasy, jazz restaurant.
About
Served 94 youth with employment, job training, entertainment gigs, and community workshops. 17 youth were employed part-time at Old Skool for a total of 8000 hours. Pre-employment training and cohorts served 19 youth, increased graduation rate to 70 percent. Comprehensive support and coaching for all youth toward personal, educational, and professional goals. Increased work hours and job experience for high risk youth by continuing to build our youth run social enterprise restaurant and catering services. 60 % of youth entering our program had a criminal history. 11 % reoffended, in sharp contract to the national re-offense rate of 76%.
