About

Employment training services: Many of the mothers that come to Freedom House have never been employed and are in desperate need of job training to help them secure employment capable of providing for their families after leaving Freedom House. In response to this need, Freedom House opened its first thrift store in Greensboro, North Carolina on December 18, 2008. Among the many skills Freedom House residents learn are customer service, organization, time management, task prioritization, and how to balance a successful work life with taking care of a home and raising children. The responsibility of each resident increases as she progresses through the employment training program. Freedom House expanded its job training program in 2019 by starting Freedom House Farm, a working farm that is growing and selling strawberries and other fresh produce. The residents have the opportunity to participate in the cultivating, harvesting, and selling aspects of the farm as additional employment training.
