The center convenes conferences involving opinion leaders and experts in a variety of fields and provides small grants to program participants for collaborative projects that build on conference themes.

The center holds conferences and various other events throughout the year, issues reports on its programs, and awards multiple small grants in support of conference topics. The center held three conferences and three workshops in fiscal year 2018: -Political pluralism in Middle East and North Africa, November 2017 -Afghanistan: Next generation of scholars, February 2018 -Cooperators without borders, April 2018 -Afghanistan-Pakistan partnership summit, May 2018 -U.S.-Southeast Asia: Building strategic relationships, July 2018 -Cross border quality assurance in higher education, September 2018
