Mission

Help families and children affected by autism spectrum disorders to reach their full potential through excellence in care, therapy, instruction and support.

About

The Behavior Services program provides individual behavioral therapy based on the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA) for children diagnosed on the autism spectrum disorder or other behavior related disabilities. In addition, this program also provides Community Support services focused on helping children achieve success across a variety of community settings (i.e. home, school, grocery store, car rides, bus rides, doctor office dentist office, etc.). All Behavior Services programs are supervised by a licensed board-certified behavior analyst. These programs have seen significant growth in 2018 with the requirement that all North Dakota insurance companies include ABA as a benefit in most all plans. Although reimbursement rates are very low, North Dakota Medicaid has also included ABA in their state plan as a covered service since in August 2017. This has increased the availability of ABA services to many children and youth across the state. Although there is a shortage of licensed behavior analysts in North Dakota, the North Dakota Autism Center, Inc. (NDAC) has grown the team to four licensed board-certified behavior analysts and one registered board-certified assistant behavior analyst which has allowed it to expand its reach. This required leasing an additional 5,000 square feet in July 2018 for the Behavior Services program. The Behavior Services Program provided 31,090 hours of service to 66 clients through either individual treatment at the NDAC or through contract services with a local school district in 2018.
