About this organization
Mission
Morris Arts' mission is to build community through the arts. Founded in 1973, Morris Arts provides arts education programs in the schools, arts programming and creative placemaking in the community, arts advocacy locally, statewide and nationally and supports our local community of artists and arts organizations. We are proud to celebrate 45 years of showcasing the arts to enrich the lives of our neighbors throughout Morris County. We believe that the arts are a catalyst for positive social change as well as an economic driver in local communities.
About
Arts in education programs reached approximately 200,000 children and included the contracting of 46 arts plus residencies in schools which directly involved over 6,200 students in in-depth interdisciplinary programs with professional teaching artists. One of these residencies, in an underserved public school in Morris County, was fully funded by Morris Arts with funds from an endowment created for this purpose. Literacy arts and mentoring programs for challenged high school students were also fully funded by Morris Arts.
