About

Rutgers Model United Nations 2017 welcomed 1,068 students from 44 individual secondary schools in the tri-state area and beyond. The 26th consecutive edition of RUMUN, the conference continued a recent trend of extremely well-attended Fall programming for IDIA. The conferences theme of Global Disparities invited students to debate topics like income inequality and resource scarcity in the context of real-world UN committees like the World Health Organization and Commission on the Status of Women. Students also learned life skills and specialized topics from guest speakers and invited workshop facilitators. To facilitate attendance from Tier I and other underserved or underprivileged schools, IDIA administered approximately $5,290 in grants, financial assistance, and fee waivers.
