WCGME conducts regional internal medicine and family medicine and national family medicine graduate medical education residency training programs for internal medicine and family medicine residents funded through the federal government's health resources and services administration (HRSA)-administered teaching health center graduate medical education (THC-GME) program. HRSA THC-GME funding is designed to educate new primary care physicians to address community based provider shortage misdistribution and health disparities in under-served areas across America. WCGME trains residents funded by the THC-GME program primarily in community-based clinical learning environments including, but not limited to, federally qualified health centers (FQHC). These FQHC partners include Health Source in Ohio, El Rio in Arizona, Health Pointe in Washington and Unity in Washington D.C. as well as The Wright Center Medical Group d/b/a The Wright Center for Community Health in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
