Central intake unit - TASC provides a central point of intake, evaluation, and referral for the uninsured and publicly funded clients of Berks County who are in need of drug and alcohol treatment services. The population served includes individuals involved in the criminal justice system, children & youth services, Berks Connections/pre-trial services, and juveniles involved with the juvenile probation office. TASC also facilitates the court reporting network (CRN) evaluation, which is the state-mandated screening tool required for all individuals arrested for a driving under the influence (DUI) offense. TASC also provides assessments for juveniles involved in Act 53, whereby a parent or legal guardian may petition the court of common pleas for commitment of the minor to involuntary drug/alcohol treatment services. TASC also conducts assessments and treatment referrals at the Berks County jail system as part of the MA jail program. TASC's central intake unit served 5,112 clients during FYE 06/30/2018, of which 4,090 were unique clients.
