Mission

The mission of the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor is to preserve the historic pathway that carried coal and iron from Wilkes-Barre to Philadelphia as well as the records, photographs, and artifacts of our nationally significant industrial heritage and to use these resources to educate the residents of the Corridor about our past and connect them to nature, culture, and communities today.

Industrial heritage: The D&L organization recognizes the importance of preserving and revitalizing our natural and cultural assets while promoting the heritage of the region. Investment in the D&L National Heritage Corridor funds projects and sites within our nationally significant region which allows for cultural preservation and appreciation. The Emrick Center in Easton serves as the D&L's headquarters and houses the National Canal Museum and one of America's last remaining mule-drawn canal boats. More than 100,000 students and adults immerse themselves in our heritage annually.
