The National Flag Foundation mission is to make available U.S. flag etiquette and flag-related citizenship information to all Americans, and to provide engaging and effective classroom resources that teach and motivate young Americans to be responsible citizens of good character with love for their country and respect for the United States Flag and other standards of citizenship. In addition to acting as the official office for answering flag etiquette questions and promoting the American Flag, the National Flag Foundation has distributed over fifty million citizenship - related distributions during its existence.

DURING THE PAST FOUR YEARS, THE FOUNDATION HAS BEEN ABLE TO CONTINUE WORK ON ITS FUNDAMENTAL MISSION BY MAKING USE OF MODEST REVENUES AND ASSISTANCE OFFERED BY A STRONG TEAM OF VOLUNTEERS INCLUDING MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS. IN LATE 2015, THE FOUNDATION WAS FORTUNATE TO HAVE RECEIVED A TWO PART FINANCIAL GRANT FROM A LOCAL FOUNDATION, TOTALING $350,000. THIS HAS ENABLED THE FOUNDATION TO SUPPLEMENT AND BOLSTER ITS VOLUNTEER EFFORTS. AS A RESULT, THE FOUNDATION HAS SOLIDIFIED ITS DAY TO DAY OPERATIONS, STEPPED UP ITS EFFORTS TO FURTHER FULFILL ITS MISSION, AND TO FOLLOW THROUGH WITH SEVERAL NATIONWIDE PATRIOTIC AND EDUCATIONAL CAMPAIGNS INCLUDING PLANS FOR A VISITOR'S CENTER IN DOWNTOWN PITTSBURGH THAT WILL PROVIDE AN EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE DESTINATION FOR VISITORS, STUDENTS, AND RESIDENTS; AN INITIATIVE TO LOCATE AMERICAN FLAG DISPOSAL BOXES IN COUNTY OFFICE BUILDINGS ACROSS THE COUNTRY; AND NFF MOMENTS, WHICH WILL PROVIDE FLAG RELATED VIDEO CLIPS AND FACTS AT SPORTING EVENTS ACROSS THE COUNTRY.
