About
Marymount of Santa Barbara was founded in 1938 with a commitment to providing an education that nurtured students academic, moral, physical and creative potential. Today, as Marymount celebrates its 80th year in existence, the faculty and staff are thoroughly committed to the values for which it was founded and still resonates in our Mission Statement. At Marymount, creative, enthusiastic, and inspiring teachers engage students in their learning, challenge them to do their best, and provide the nurturing and support they need to succeed. Marymount teachers teach kids how to think, not what to think. Marymounts faculty is comprised of 22 full-time and seven part-time teachers, with 50 percent of the full-time teachers holding a Masters degree or higher. Marymounts pristine and historically significant campus location provides the opportunity for our Lower and Middle School Divisions to have the appropriate programs and facilities for their levels while still allowing for combined activities and events. Other features unique to Marymount include our licensed Junior Kindergarten program, the Center for Creative Design and Engineering (CDEC), a space where students can delve deeper into hands-on learning in Design Thinking, Engineering and Science, and a heated outdoor swimming pool that allows for swimming and aquatic activities to be a part of our physical education program in Grades 1-8, and also used for after-school athletics and Middle School electives. Lastly, our Learning Support Program, Skills Application classes, and Middle School Advisory Program work in concert to adequately meet the needs of all our students JK-8th grade.
