About

The History Center (THC) is dedicated to connecting the past to the present and future of Linn County. It is a unique community resource and makes the history of Linn County both accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Some of the events held by THC in 2018 included: walking tours, at which participants of all ages were provided interesting stories detailing the significance of certain regions within Cedar Rapids; educational programming, offering a variety of pre-K through fifth grade programs that provided interesting content such as 'Then and Now,' 'What Does This Artifact Tell Us?' and 'How Our Cities Got Their Names.; providing library and archives resources to over 300 researchers; an exhibit gallery in the Cedar Rapids Public Library that hosted over 4,000 visitors from 21 different states; Bite of History, held in restaurants and bistros in the region at which THC's historian provided historical facts about the location, the building and the owners of the building while participants enjoyed beverages and appetizers; fee engagements at which we provided lectures and content as requested by and for a specific audience; lectures, bus tours and other history-related events.
