Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia is a non-profit organization, which creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. The mission of Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia is to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. The chapter granted 601 wishes in the fiscal year ending August 31, 2019. Wishes included 295 wishes to Disney resorts, 42 celebrity meetings, 42 shopping sprees, 28 trips to Hawaii, 14 cruises and 27 swimming pools and playsets. Unique wishes include Ethan's trip to Comic- Com in San Diego, Grace's wish to meet the U.S. Women's Soccer Team, Logan's wish to sail on the KISS Kruise, David's wish for help with college tuition, Lilliana's wish to be a mermaid, Frank's wish to donate to his local fire company, Allison's wish for a she-shed and Michelle's wish to see the Northern Lights. Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia has met or exceeded all benchmarks of excellence set forth by its national organization, Make-A-Wish America. These include liquidity, wish growth, wish turnaround, cost per dollar raised and public support growth. The chapter has placed at the top of chapter performance for the last 10 years in its category (Large Chapters). In addition,in fiscal year ending August 31, 2019, the allocation for program services was approximately 83.9%. Because of its management excellence, the chapter has been given five additional territories to manage by Make-A-Wish America, the first in 2000.
