Southern Tier Housing Corporation's mission is to provide households with high-quality, energy efficient, housing opportunities. STHC works with households to qualify for financing, select land on which to build a home, and select a house plan. STHC builds the homes, sometimes as the general contractor for a turn-key job and sometimes through a mutual self-help method which brings together households (often 6-10 households) to cooperatively build their homes. STHC also provides project management expertise to other organizations who are in need of expertise and capacity to carry out housing initiatives in their communities.
