MENTORING PROGRAM - Mentor Me North Georgia matches adult volunteers with children and youth. These volunteers serve as mentors, primarily in a one-to-one relationship, although a portion of our program involves a group mentoring structure.Significant activities for 2018: We impacted the lives of 789 children and youth through our different mentoring programs. In our One-on-One mentoring program, we aim to have children in supportive mentoring relationships for at least one year- 73% of our matches have reached that milestone, and we served 103 children in 2018. On average, children stay matched for 2.8 years, and results show the benefits- 83% are more confident, 89% improved their behavior, and 64% are doing better academically. Another 126 elementary school students benefitted from our REACH reading program, where 95% of students are more confident, and 50% worked up to reading at grade level vs. 15% at the beginning of the year. We impacted 549 teens in our Kick it Up group mentoring program, where 88% of students are on track to graduate and 75% had fewer discipline referrals. In our FASTER program, the 11 teens selected for scholarships are now high school juniors, and have a 90.7% average grade. They will be the first in their families to attend college.
