Mission
The Napa Valley Vine Trail Coalition is a grass-roots nonprofit with a vision to build a walking/biking trail system to connect the entire Napa Valley--physically, artistically, and culturally. We are working to design, fund, construct, and maintain 47 safe and scenic miles of level, paved, family-friendly, free-access Class I trail, stretching from Vallejo's Ferry to Calistoga.
About
For the second time, the Vine Trail won the Best Trail in Napa County from the readers of the Bohemian newspaper. In addition, the Vine Trail was featured on "Bay Area Open Roads" on the local affiliate of NBC. The Vine Trail has also been mentioned in several print articles about things to do in Napa Valley.2018 was the second full year when the automatic bicycle and pedestrian counters installed in the trail were in operation. The Vine Trail had over 362,387 uses, a slight increase over 2017. This translates into 176,194 round trips or 482 cars a day off Highway 29.The Coalition has taken the lead in obtaining the easements necessary to construct the Vine Trail between St. Helena and Calistoga. Great progress was made in 2019 in getting private property owners to agree to easements on their properties.The Coalition, in collaboration with the Napa Valley Transportation Authority, to award a contract for the 65% plans and specifications and environmental work needed to construct the 7.2 miles between St. Helena and Calistoga.In collaboration with the City of Vallejo and Solano Transportation Authority, the Coalition has begun work on the 65% plans and specifications and environmental work needed to construct the 3-mile trail between Wilson Avenue in Vallejo and the City of American Canyon's Veterans Park.The Vine Trails volunteers provided 1,257 hours of time to the Vine Trail Coalition in 2018/2019.The Coalition held its second annual fundraiser, "Loco-Motion" in March 2019 and again raised over $350,000 for the Vine Trail Project.The Vine Trail Coalition will continue its mission of creating a safe, scenic and beautiful trail for residents and visitors to Napa Valley.
