Mission

To promote environmental quality and equity in the most environmentally distressed communities in the greater New Haven area by providing grants and incentives to support initiatives that will reduce exposure to air, water, and land pollution and create a more sustainable future.

About

$10,000 was provided to Friends of Edgewood Park for park woodland restoration using goats and replanting. Using an innovative approach to reclaim park woodland from invasive species, FOEP proposes to use goats to eat invasive plant species in a confined, fenced in area of Edgewood Park. Citizens will provide water for the goats and ensure that the fence is intact. After the third season of goat harvesting, the area will be replanted with native species. Our grant paid for the goats and fencing and was matched by community funding sources.
