Austin Disaster Relief Network (ADRN) is a nonprofit organization comprised of over 200 Greater Austin churches and thousands of trained volunteers that provide emotional, physical, and spiritual relief to disaster survivors, enabling and empowering church members to organize, prepare, mobilize, and respond quickly in the event of disaster.
About
IN 2018, ADRN'S NETWORK OF CHURCHES AND VOLUNTEERS RESPONDED TO NEARLY 89 SMALL DISASTER INCIDENTS, HELPING HUNDREDS OF INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IMPACTED BY DISASTER (HOUSE AND APARTMENT FIRES, SMALL FLOOD AND TORNADO INCIDENTS) AND PROVIDED EMOTIONAL, SPIRITUAL AND PHYSICAL CARE TO OVER 525 FAMILIES, INCLUDING THE HISTORIC HILL COUNTRY FLOOD THAT DAMAGED OR DESTROYED HOMES IN LLANO, BURNET, AND TRAVIS COUNTY (THIS REPRESENTS NEARLY 2,000 SURVIVORS). ADRN PROVIDED THESE FAMILIES EMERGENCY FUNDING (GIFT CARDS), EMERGENCY TRANSPORTATION, EMERGENCY HOUSING (HOTELS), FINANCIAL AID FOR THE REPAIR/REBUILD OF THEIR HOME (ALSO, RV, MOBILE HOME, APARTMENT), DISASTER GOODS AND SUPPLIES, AND MUCH MORE. IN 2018, OVER 225 FAMILIES WERE SPONSORED BY LOCAL CHURCHES IN GREATER AUSTIN AND IN THE HILL COUNTRY, HELPING THOUSANDS GET BACK INTO CLEAN AND SAFE HOMES. ADRN ASSISTED HILL COUNTRY PASTORS TO LAUNCH THE NEWLY FORMED DISASTER NETWORK CALLED HIGHLAND LAKES CRISIS NETWORK, WHICH CLOSED OVER 500 HILL COUNTRY FLOOD SURVIVOR CASES BY MAY 2019. ADRN'S THRIFT STORE CONTINUES TO BE A HUGE ASSET FOR ADRN, PROVIDING FREE CLOTHING, SHOES, LINENS, UNDERGARMENTS, AND MUCH MORE TO THOUSANDS OF SURVIVORS EVERY YEAR. ADRN IS WORKING CLOSELY WITH UNITED AID OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS, CHRISTIAN AID MINISTRIES AND C.A.R.E. IN THE REBUILDING/REPAIRING OF 150 HOMES IN BEAUMONT, PORT ARTHUR AND ROCKPORT AREAS IN THEIR CONTINUED DISASTER RESPONSE EFFORTS FOR HURRICANE HARVEY. ADRN'S GOAL IS TO WORK THROUGH THE LOCAL CHURCH IN DISASTER IMPACTED AREAS AND FUND BEHIND THEIR DISASTER RESPONSE EFFORTS TO THE COMMUNITY TO ENSURE THAT EVERY MAN, WOMAN AND CHILD RECEIVES IMMEDIATE ASSISTANCE TO GET THEM BACK INTO A CLEAN AND SAFE HOME/APARTMENT.
