The Thomas Cole National Historic Site preserves and interprets the home and studios of Thomas Cole, the founder of the Hudson River School of painting, the nation's first art movement. Cole's profound influence on America's cultural landscape inspires us to engage broad audiences through educational programs that are relevant today.

The Thomas Cole Historic House was open to the public from May through October. Approximately 15,000 members of the general public visited and toured the facility. In addition approximately 300 public school children toured the facility and participated in art related programs. Six educational programs were conducted with nationally known speakers presenting material related to Thomas Cole and the Hudson River School of painting.
