Mission
The Texas Water Mission supports communities in need by providing safe drinking water and hygiene solutions.
About
Honduras Program: Approximately 600 Hondurans in rural communities benefited from our program activites in 2019: One new water well was drilled to provide safe drinking water for the community of San Lorenzo, Honduras. For this project a solar pump with storage tank was installed to provide increased flow rates for the community. Five days of Health and Hygiene training were conducted for this community. Following reports of a problem with a pump at a previously drilled well in Azacualpa, we found that some neighborhood kids had tampered with the pump. The community built a fence for security around the well and our pump (Continued on Page 13) repair team provided the repairs. As a result, the community of Azacualpa has running water again! Five days of Health and Hygiene training were also provided for each of the communities of Corral Quemado in the department of El Paraiso and in the community of la Calera, Jacaleapa, also in the department of El Paraiso. Lessons included how to keep drinking water safe from waterborne disease plus basic nutrition and diabetes prevention. Our team was also able to provide water testing for a prevously drilled well in Cataulaca. We were happy to see they had built three latrines, septic system, and a hand washing station next to their water well.
