Mission

Celtic Charms, Inc.'s ("Celtic Charms") mission is to provide children and adults with physical, cognitive and emotional disabilities or disorders a program of individualized equine instruction in a safe and supportive family farm environment and to provide care for equines previously engaged in therapeutic riding activities and/or or for equines in need of assistance due to neglect and/or the inability of previous owners to provide a proper level of care. We provide opportunities for the professional development of our instructors and volunteers as well as ongoing training of our horses for therapeutic horseback riding and other equine-assisted activities.

About

During 2019 Celtic Charms continued its efforts toward establishing a safe therapeutic riding program at its new facility in Albemarle, North Carolina while providing loving care to the nine equines previously part of its active riding program in their new North Cariolina home. Extensive construction and renovation work, specifically new stall facilities, upgraded barn lighting and rewiring, new fencing and gates and agronomic work on grazing areas continued on the new facility. All capital costs were incurred by the lessor, Celtic Charms Equestrian Centers LLC, which is wholly owned by the Executive and Program Directors, the two founders of Celtic Charms. Lessons will restart once the new facility is staffed and properly prepared for safe and effective instruction. As a result, compared to results in 2018, there were no lesson revenues or labor costs. Overall non-labor program expenses declined by 40% as equine costs and maintenance expenses do not decline proportionally to revenue given the semi-fixed nature of such costs.
