CICLAVIA IS A LEADER IN THE GLOBAL OPEN STREETS MOVEMENT AND PRODUCED 5 CAR-FREE STREET EVENTS DURING THIS PERIOD AS PART OF OUR EFFORTS TO CHAMPION A MORE EQUITABLE, HEALTHY AND CONNECTED LOS ANGELES. THESE FREE EVENTS WERE ATTENDED BY APPROXIMATELY 300,000 PEOPLE WHOSE DEMOGRAPHICS REFLECT THAT OF LA COUNTY WITH 38% HISPANIC, 38% WHITE, 14% ASIAN AND 7% AFRICAN AMERICAN. CICLAVIA IS HELPING SHAPE A NEW NARRATIVE FOR A SUSTAINABLE LOS ANGELES - ONE THAT EMBRACES ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION, CLIMATE RESILIENT OPTIONS, AND PROMOTES HEALTHY LIFESTYLES TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE IN LOS ANGELES. ALL CICLAVIA EVENTS HIGHLIGHT THE LOCAL CULTURE, SMALL BUSINESS, ART, AND ARCHITECTURE OF THE NEIGHBORHOODS WE VISIT. FUNDING COMES FROM METRO, INDIVIDUAL CITIES, SPONSORS, PRIVATE FOUNDATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS. DURING THIS PERIOD, WE VISITED NEW COMMUNITIES INCLUDING HOLLYWOOD, AND WASHINGTON WEST IN CULVER CITY. WE REVISITED THE NEIGHBORHOODS OF WILMINGTON, MAR VISTA, PALMS, CULVER CITY, ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, DTLA, BOYLE HEIGHTS, CHINATOWN, MACARTHUR PARK, LITTLE TOKYO, AND KOREA TOWN. DURING THIS TIME, WE EXPLORED NEW OPPORTUNITIES TO ENGAGE THE LOS ANGELES COMMUNITY INCLUDING PILOTING A SHORTER (2.25 MILE) CICLAVIA WITHIN THE CITY OF WILMINGTON WHERE WE CREATED MORE ENGAGEMENT WITH LOCAL PARTNERS, FEATURED LOS ANGELES BASED NON-PROFITS FROM AROUND THE REGION, AND PROMOTED A MORE WALKABLE EVENT. WE ALSO PARTNERED WITH THE LOS ANGELES PHILHARMONIC IN CELEBRATION (AND KICK-OFF) OF THEIR 100 YEAR ANNIVERSARY BY HOSTING A CICLAVIA EVENT FROM DOWNTOWN DISNEY HALL TO THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL. THIS EVENT FEATURED MUSIC & ARTIST PERFORMANCES AND DEMOSTRATIONS ALL ALONG THE 8 MILE ROUTE INCLUDING POP-UP PERFORMANCES, ROVING MUSCIANS, MUSIC WORKSHOPS, AND CONCERT STAGES FEATURING YOLA STUDENT PERFORMANCES, COMMUNITY ORCHESTRAS, LA PHIL ORCHESTRA, LOCAL AND NATIONAL MUSICAL ACTS.
