Mission

iMentor builds mentoring relationships that empower students from low-income communities to graduate high school, succeed in college, and achieve their ambitions.

About

iMentor matches every student in our high schools with a committed college-educated mentor, equipped to guide that young person on their journey to college graduation. iMentor was created in 1999 by John Griffin, founder of Blue Ridge Capital, and two public-interest lawyers, Richard Buery and Matt Klein. We launched our inaugural program with just 49 students in a single school in the South Bronx. Today, iMentor serves more than 10,000 students through our direct-service programs in New York City, Chicago, the Bay Area and Baltimore, and through our partnerships with local non-profit organizations that implement our model in 51 schools.
