About
NAVIGATION IS DESIGNED TO ORIENT CLIENTS THROUGH THE PARTNERSHIP OF SERVICES FOR VICTIMS OF INTERPERSONAL VIOLENCE PROVIDED BY THE FAMILY JUSTICE CENTER (FJC). ONE HIRED STAFF MEMBER AND OTHER VOLUNTEERS MEET CLIENTS WHEN THEY ARRIVE AT THE FJC AND EXPLAIN ABOUT THE PARTNERSHIP OF PROVIDERS AND HOW EACH AGENCY WORKS TO ASSIST SURVIVORS OF FAMILY VIOLENCE AND VICTIMS OF CRIME. NAVIGATION STAFF BRIEFLY REVIEW A FOLDER OF INFORMATION ENSURING THAT THE INDIVIDUAL HAS A SAFE PLACE TO KEEP THE INFORMATION. THEY REVIEW POLICIES FOR FILING A GRIEVANCE AND CAREFULLY REVIEW INFORMED CONSENT ENSURING THE INDIVIDUAL KNOWS THEY DO NOT HAVE TO SIGN IT. AFTER REVIEWING THE DIFFERENT AGENCIES, CLIENTS ARE EMPOWERED TO MAKE AN INFORMED DECISION AS AGENCY AND SERVICE SELECTION. NAVIGATION STAFF CONNECTS THE INDIVIDUAL WITH THE AGENCY OF THEIR CHOICE. THIS PROGRAM USES APPROXIMATELY 3,400 SQUARE FEET OF THE SPACE. ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF NAVIGATION PROGRAM: DURING THE FISCAL YEAR 1573 SURVIVORS OF ABUSE VISITED OUR CENTER 2427 TIMES FOR SERVICES RANGING FROM LAW ENFORCEMENT, ADVOCACY AND HUMAN SERVICES, LEGAL AND CHILD WELFARE, AND YOUTH DEVELOPMENT, AMONG OTHERS. SURVIVORS WERE GIVEN THE OPTION TO PARTICIPATE IN EXIT SURVEYS, AND OVER HALF OF ALL PERSONS PARTICIPATING REPORTED THEIR IMMEDIATE SENSE OF SAFETY AND SECURITY INCREASED AS A RESULT OF THEIR VISIT TO THE CENTER; OVER HALF INCREASED THEIR IMMEDIATE KNOWLEDGE OF VICTIM SERVICES, COMMUNITY RESOURCES AND THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM. 76% OF SURVEY PARTICIPANTS REPORTED RECEIVING IMPORTANT SAFETY PLANNING RESOURCES WHILE AT THE CENTER. 94% OF SURVEY PARTICIPANTS REPORTED LEARNING ABOUT ORDERS OF PROTECTION AND HOW TO UTILIZE THE ORDER AS PART OF THEIR SAFETY PLAN. THIS PROGRAM CONTINUES AS IT IS PART OF THE DAILY PROGRAMMING OF THE FAMILY JUSTICE CENTER. WE ANTICIPATE SIGNIFICANT GROWTH IN THIS AREA AS WE STREAMLINE THE NAVIGATION PROCESS AND EXPAND NAVIGATION TO INCLUDE ADDITIONAL CLIENT FOLLOW-UP PROGRAMMING.
